Tom Dalzell
Senior Consultant
Tom Dalzell is the newest Associate of Restructuring Associates Inc. joining RAI as a Senior Consultant in 2021 after fifteen highly successful years as the Business Manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local 1245.
Prior to being elected the Business Manager of IBEW Local 1245, Tom was the staff attorney for Local 1245 for twenty-five years. Before joining the IBEW, Mr. Dalzell worked as a legal advisor and staff attorney for the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO in Salinas CA.
Mr. Dalzell has extensive experience as the lead negotiator in negotiating bargaining agreements, handling hundreds of arbitrations, unfair labor practices, FLSA lawsuits, Federal District Court lawsuits, representing the interests of his members before government regulatory agencies and legislative bodies, corporate campaigns, and drafting, advocating for and passing legislation.
He also has extensive experience throughout his career working collaboratively with management to solve problems and find solutions to difficult challenges that benefited both the employees and the employers. For thirteen years Mr. Dalzell was also the Co-Chair of the Western LAMPAC, a cooperative venture of Western States public utilities and the IBEW to work together on relevant energy issues, policies and state and Federal legislation.
Separately from his life and work in organized labor, Mr. Dalzell is an internationally recognized expert and author of fifteen books published by leading publishers, primarily focusing on slang, unconventional English, material culture and 1960’s history.
Mr. Dalzell has his BA in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the California Bar, having been admitted to the Bar after studying law under the supervision of an attorney and passing the California Bar Examination.
